Vibe coded a quick web tool for managing a dance competition schedule that grew into a full progressive web app for dance teams.
Overview
Frustrated with trying to explain to my mom the hard to read format of dance competition schedules, I built a quick web version in Codex over an hour at Starbucks.
While my oldest daughter did her homework at Starbucks, I spent an hour building the initial version. After originally just converting the data to HTML, I spent some time in ChatGPT refining a PRD so I could replicate the process for each competition.
I created a quick color palette based on the team purple, generated some decorative SVGs, tweaked the CSS a bit, then sent it off to my wife.
She shared it in the dance moms group chat, and by the day of the competition I had a solid list of feature requests (and bugs to chase down).
The simple web page has evolved into an installable progressive web app tracking the results for dancers and routines, and am currently working on an iOS native app version for next year's competitions.
